ETE enjoyed a busy three days at the 2018 Drives and Controls exhibition held at Birmingham’s NEC between Tuesday 10th April and Thursday 12th April.
Drives and Controls is recognised as the UK’s leading show for automation, power transmission, and motion engineering. The biennial event was
co-located with four other industrial exhibitions (Plant and Asset Management, Smart Industry Expo, Air-Tech, Fluid Power and Systems) making it the largest manufacturing / industrial event in the UK this year. The show covered the very latest in mechanical power transmission, motion control, and automation from over 320 industry leaders. In addition, the MACH and Health and Safety Expo were in full flow in adjacent halls further expanding the number of visitors in attendance.
Tony Harper (Marketing Manager) was making his debut as an exhibitor for ETE whilst Nick Cracknell (Joint MD) was making his fourth appearance in what proved to be an exhausting but productive show.
Before the Rush: Our stand
ETE used the platform to debut our new, and biggest ever, Electrical Power Products catalogue (EPP 0318) which proved to be a big hit amongst those who visited our stand. Our new catalogue comprises 132 pages and features all four of our main products ranges (transformers, power electronics, thermal management products, and accessories). The latest instalment has seen numerous product additions with many fresh ranges including our new range of custom-built transformers to 3.15MVA, heating and cooling thermostats, an array of MEAN WELL AC to DC power supplies, and IP65 enclosures to name just a few.

Our branded USB sticks and pens were a hit, whilst our umbrellas went down a storm, especially on the last day of the show as the British weather made sure they would be put to use! Over 90 business cards were placed into our fish bowl and subsequently entered into our prize draw to win an all new Amazon Echo with Howard Eaton of Howard Eaton Lighting Limited being drawn out to win the prize.
Our tailor-made stand (located at D759) was among the most distinctive on display with special attention being given to our aesthetically pleasing 500kVA custom-built transformer sample and our control panel full of our stocked products (see below).

The show was a marked success with a number of enquiries and new contacts being amassed. It was also great to see so many of our current customers, distributors, and suppliers pay us a visit. We would like to say a big thank you to all of those who visited our stand and we look forward to maintaining our relationships going forward. The 2018 Drives and Controls has helped to further enhance awareness of our brand and the products / services we can offer; the main reason the show has continued to be a mainstay on the ETE calendar for more than 20 years.
