ETE was established in August 1984 as a UK manufacturer of transformers and wound electrical components.
In the last 40 years, the company has witnessed many changes.
ETE has become one of the main players in the controls and automation market with its extensive range of stock transformers. This started with the launch of its Euro range over 30 years ago. The development of its custom-built ranges extended to 3ph transformers up to 500kVA was another key development.
However, on the supply chain side, ETE has seen a major shift. Sadly, this reflects the UK manufacturing base in general.
In the formative years of ETE all the materials used in the manufacturing of transformers were produced and supplied by UK companies.
Now the materials used are nearly all produced overseas.
From electrical steels, winding wires and strips, winding formers, terminations, insulation and even electrical varnish. These are now no longer produced here in the UK.
This trend has obviously led to a major decline in our country’s manufacturing base.
However, the future for ETE has remained positive with steady growth being achieved year on year. The market is very competitive, and this means that the company needs to keep focused on pricing and technical developments.
